GX Technology Canada Ltd. (GXT) has submitted a Project Description to the National Energy Board (NEB), and proposes to conduct a 2-D marine seismic survey in the Canadian Beaufort Sea. The survey would be in an area within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR), and take place between July and November 2010.
The proposed survey is in the Beaufort Sea, ranging from east of the US - Canada maritime boundary in the west to approximately 118 degrees west longitude in the east, and from the Yukon - Northwest Territories coast north to approximately 78 degrees north latitude. Water depths within the planned survey area range from < 50m to > 3,000 m. A total of up to 18,318 line-km of survey is planned, although it is expected that 6,500 line-km will actually be acquired due to ice conditions or other restrictions.
The duration planned for the survey is up to 115 days. The activities involved with the project would include 2-D seismic surveying, scouting and associated re-supply activities.
