National Energy Board participates in Operation Narwhal 07 in Norman Wells, NWT
CALGARY - Today, the National Energy Board participated in Operation NARWHAL 07 in Norman Wells, Northwest Territories. The exercise scenario involves a simulated threat to Canadian oil infrastructure in the North.
"The National Energy Board is proud to take part in Operation NARWHAL," said National Energy Board Chairman Ken Vollman. "It's a great opportunity for us to practice security and emergency responses in collaboration with our northern and federal partners, and the private sector energy companies we regulate in the Northwest Territories."
The National Energy Board (NEB) regulates oil and gas operations in the North, and is taking part in the exercise alongside the Canadian Forces and the two private sector energy companies it regulates.

The NEB is an independent federal agency that regulates several parts of Canada's energy industry. Its purpose is to promote safety and security, environmental protection, and efficient energy infrastructure and markets in the Canadian public interest, within the mandate set by Parliament in the regulation of pipelines, energy development and trade.
