"My name is Kim Cornelissen. I am a consultant in international regional development and I work with AQLPA, the Association québécoise de lutte contre la pollution atmosphérique. Our role is to intervene in certain matters before the Régie de l'énergie du Québec.
I would like to congratulate the National Energy Board of Canada on its 50th anniversary. Like all regulators, the National Energy Board plays a role that will become very, very important as environmental and social issues take on ever greater significance, including the protection of the public interest in a number of areas. This is why a Board like the NEB and other regulators are so important, and why we need groups like AQLPA to help regulators defend the public interest and have positive economic impacts as well.
