Consultation Draft Safety Plan Guidelines

The Board is pleased to announce the release of the Consultation Draft Safety Plan Guidelines as a companion to the new Drilling and Production Regulations. The guidelines can be read alongside the Drilling and Production Regulations, they are non-mandatory, goal-orientated, and intended to provide assistance to interested parties in understanding the requirements of the regulations, and how to meet those requirements. The Board invites interested parties to comment on the guidelines and details for submission can be found in the letter to stakeholders found below.

Updated Drilling and Production Regulations under COGOA and the Accord Acts will come into force on 31 December 2009

9 December 2009

The updated Drilling and Production Regulations under the Canada Oil and Gas Operations Act, the Canada-Newfoundland Atlantic Accord Implementation Act and the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation Act were published in the Canada Gazette, Part II on 9 December 2009.

  • The Drilling and Production Regulations will come into force on 31 December 2009.
  • The consequential amendments to the Installations Regulations and the Certificate of Fitness Regulations will also come into force on 31 December 2009.
  • The Drilling Regulations and the Production and Conservation Regulations will be repealed on 31 December 2009.
